Robert D. Evershed

Robert Evershed is a Principal and co-founder of Prospectus Associates.  For the past 17 years, Robert has been an effective and successful advocate for his clients in their dealings with governments in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, providing strategic advice to the senior management of some of the world’s largest multi-nationals.

Robert’s expertise spans many sectors. Some recent areas of focus have included international trade, defence procurement, pharmaceutical policy and environment technology development.

Robert’s diverse practice includes working with multi-national pharmaceutical companies and their industry association to ensure that Canadians have access to world-class innovative health treatments; advising food sector clients on regulations relating to international trade in food commodities and the impact of trade sanctions on the food sector; working with some of the world’s largest aerospace companies in the area of defence procurement – work which has contributed to the Canadian government making multi-billion dollar investments into the Canadian military that will be of strategic importance for generations to come.  He has also worked extensively in the areas of energy conservation and environmental technology, putting together consortiums of companies, large and small, established and start-up, to work with the federal and provincial governments on projects to commercialize technologies which reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote energy efficiency.

Robert also advises many of his clients on the public relations issues related to their trade disputes and government relations files.

In 1987, Robert moved from the Prime Minister’s Office to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to assist the Honourable John Crosbie, Minister for International Trade, with Canada-U.S. trade issues. In this capacity, Robert briefed the Minister and Caucus on the negotiation and implementation of the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement. In 1991, Robert moved to the Export Development Corporation, where he served in the Export Finance Division, working with Canadian exporters to finance transactions in Mexico, Chile and Europe. He also served as an advisor for trade policy as it affected Canada’s relationship with the OECD and the Consensus regulations. In 1992, Robert co-founded Prospectus Associates. Robert is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Government Relations Institute of Canada and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Food Bank.  He is also a member of the Royal Ottawa Golf and Country Club.

Robert lives in the National Capital Region and is married with four children.
