Team Canada defeats Team Euro 9 – 2

January 4, 2009

Team Canada, sponsored by Prospectus client EMC and coached by Bill Pristanski, defeated a team of European diplomats 9 to 2 in a friendly hockey match on January 4 — the off-day between the semi-finals and finals of the World Junior Hockey Championships.  The game was played at University of Ottawa followed by a reception hosted by the Czech Ambassador.  Members of Parliament and Senators formed the “new coalition team” with players representing the governing Conservatives, Opposition Liberals and NDP.  Co-captains were Gord Brown, Conservative MP for Leeds Grenville and Co-chair of the Canada-US Interparliamentary Group and Massimo Pacetti, Liberal MP for Saint-Léonard–Saint-Michel and Vice-chair of the House Finance Committee.  Hon. Peter MacKay played right wing and Paul Dewar from the NDP played left wing.
