Prospectus Associates held an event with MDA and the Canadian Club at the Château Laurier in Ottawa last month, featuring a speech delivered by MDA’s Group President Mike Greenley and Business Manager, Holly Johnson.
Greenley and Johnson delivered a speech that reminded the audience of MDA’s rich history in space technology, and how much that represents Canada’s achievements in space as well. Canada has historically been a big supporter and contributor to space exploration and the technology required to do so, but over recent years, our prestigious place in space has been slipping.
Greenley and Johnson went back and forth describing Canada’s past victories, and future opportunities within the space sector, including the not-so-distant concepts of space tourism and the space economy. They had the audience gripped with descriptions of Canada’s and MDA’s contributions on the existing International Space Station (ISS) and the plans to remain involved with the upcoming Lunar Gateway Mission.
The event at the Château was part of a larger campaign that Prospectus has been working on with MDA, called Don’t Let Go Canada. The campaign is made up of industry representatives, academics, and the space-enthusiastic general public to ensure that the Canadian government keeps Canada involved in the next chapter of space technology and exploration.
Throughout a grassroots public relations campaign, several speaking events, and social media coverage, the campaign implores Canadians to contact their federal representatives to let them know that they want the Canadian government to put forward a fully funded space strategy to keep Canada competitive.
The campaign is ongoing, so if you want to hear about other events we have coming up, or support our efforts, read more about the campaign here.
